A message about the Coronavirus from the Encore DCS Staff
COVID 19 Update - Our plan for 2020-2021!
From the Encore DCS family, thank you for your support this year. Although we missed seeing so many of you, we are grateful we were able to hold many of our events this season and look forward to a brighter 2021! We successfully hosted 4 regionals and one national competition this summer with new COVID-19 procedures in place. These events received positive feedback and we were able to make the competitions as “normal” as possible, while being safe, cautious and respectful of one another. Until further notice we will plan our competitions the same way, with the following procedures in place to assist with social distancing and increased safety and sanitation:
Solo and duet/trio competition will be scheduled as normal, but in smaller groups to lower the number of people involved at a time. Group Competition will be divided into sessions with a limited number of studios in each session. Seating in the venue will be based on current CDC guidelines and local mandates. TVs will be placed backstage and in multiple areas of the venue for viewing the competition.
For group awards, we ask each studio to select one representative from each routine to represent you on stage. We will have a designated area on stage for each studio. We encourage additional students to watch livestream for awards.
Packets with award pins for each student will not be handed out on stage. Teachers can pick up award packets in the lobby following each group awards ceremony.
Dressing room space will be assigned and each studio will have a designated area. We ask that only one adult per child is in the dressing room, with no additional siblings or friends. If possible, we encourage students over the age of 12 to help each other with quick changes so we can limit the number of people in the dressing room.
As always, we offer free livestream of all performances! We invite and encourage family and friends to watch online, especially the elderly, high-risk individuals or those with underlying health conditions.
Our backstage staff will wear masks at all times. The mask policy for others will be announced closer to the date of the event and will be based on the rules and mandates in the area.
All competition music should be uploaded to your Dance Comp Genie account prior to the event.
Photos and videos of all routines are included with entry fees and can be accessed from home within five days following the competition via digital download. Parents will not need to view or purchase photos or videos at the event on ipads or other devices.
Teachers must submit a signed waiver for each student before the studio is allowed to compete.
Studios are eligible for a full refund if the event is cancelled. It is our policy to only discuss financial matters with teachers and studio owners.
Your health and safety is of utmost importance to us and we will continue working with each venue to ensure the most sanitary environments for your dancers. Guidelines and mandates in each city and state may differ and we will continue to update you on any changes to the guidelines above. Please let us know if you have any questions. As always, we are here to help in any way we can. We know you and your students are continuing to work so hard during this time and we are so proud of your dedication and perseverance. We can't wait to see you on the Encore DCS stage soon!
